RATES

Square Inch Price

I charge 3 cents per square inch for most designs.

Example: A quilt top is 60 inches x 80 inches. 60 x 80 = 4800 x .03 = $144.

I charge 4 cents per square inch for especially complex or dense quilting. This is due to the additional time it takes.  I will discuss this with you before I begin work.

My minimum quilting charge is $50. This means that a small quilt or table runner's square inch price will be rounded up to the $50 minimum.

Additional Charges:  I provide a full range of additional services and will be happy to provide an estimate for:

  • Shipping (usually USPS) within the US.

  • Seaming quilt backing

  • Machine binding

  • Custom quilt designs

Payment is due at the time the quilt is completed.

Batting

I use and stock either Hobbs or Quilters Dream batting in the 80/20 cotton/poly blend on a 96: wide roll.  I can special order just about anything and sometimes have additional batting on hand.

Batting is a separate charge and is NOT included in the square inch price.

I charge for batting by the linear inch from queen rolls of batting except in the case of special orders.  I will use only what is needed for your quilt (smallest side + a 5" margin) and charge per inch.

For example, if you have a 60" x 80" quilt, I would cut 65" of the batting of your choice.
65" of 100% cotton deluxe loft @ $0.40/in = $26.00
65" of 80/20 cotton/poly blend @ $0.33/in = $21.45
65" of 100% poly @ $0.26/in = $16.90

Thread

I stock several types and weights of thread in fairly standard colors.  I don't charge any extra fees for thread use, it's included in your square inch price.

I will work with you to find the color and weight of thread that brings your vision to life.  Sometimes you want the quilting to stand out, and sometimes you wan it to fade into the background. This is YOUR quilt!

Photography

I will take photos of your quilt and then text/email you those images to use however you would like. I'd just ask that you credit me for the photo and/or quilting if posting publicly. This extra service is included in your square inch price.

Shipping

I live in Portland, Oregon, USA. If you are not local, you may ship your top and backing to me.  I'll provide the address when you book your quilt. I'd recommend sending your materials enclosed in some kind of sack or bag to protect against possible moisture in transit and then placed in a hard-sided cardboard box. Make sure the box is securely taped and labeled clearly.

Return shipping: I will send your quilt back to you in the manner described above via USPS Priority mail (using flat rate when possible/economical). Priority mail comes with $50 of insurance and a tracking number but please indicate on your intake form if you would like me to buy any additional insurance on your behalf. It's a great idea to insure your valuables against loss or damage while with the Postal Service, but I don't require it.
